Luminar Neo - My First Impressions

Mystical Woods - move mouse over  for an before / after     In December of last year I was asked whether I'd like to take a look and try out the photo edit software Luminar Neo. So I was provided with the program and the extensions pack. At the moment there are seven extensions available, I installed four of them that I thought could be useful in my workflow. These are Noiseless Ai, Upscale Ai, Supersharp Ai and Magic Light Ai.  Until I was asked to try Luminar Neo, I had not heard of the program, but the opportunity to partner with Skylum and make some additional money convinced me to take a look. That means: This text contains affiliate links. What is Luminar Neo? Skylum's Luminar Neo is a photo editing tool that makes editing your photos quite simple. Many of its features are enhanced by artificial intelligence that lead to sometimes stunning results and are intuitive and easy to use. First of all: Though I am a German guy I am writing this in English. Many people know me from Flickr, most of them don't speak German, so I thought it might be better to write my posts in English.
That doesn't mean, that I won't be posting something in German as well!  ;-))

I am totally new to the blog-thing, but I thought I wanted give it a try. So, what do I want to do with it?
I want to present my texture work. I also like to show how I use them in my work, giving you an idea how I use them. Hopefully I can inspire you to try something with textures regarding your owm photos as well!

I am also planning to make a collection of tips & tricks regarding my and other peoples work with textures, so it's worth while checking this blog from time to time.

I also want to present my own texture creations. You can purchase them over at my website:

Making of: " Silent Sorrow"

Let me start with a short tutorial on how I processed this picture:

I shot this on a rather dull and rainy sunday evening on my way home.
Nothing spectacular, but I thought adding some textures might help me express the mood I was in when I took this picture.

I chose the following three textures:

For all of you who are working with Photoshop I added a screen shot of the blending modes in Photoshop:

The edges of the picture became too dark, so I made a copy of the background layer and placed it on top of the layers. After playing with the blending modes for some time I came up with 100%/25% - divide.
This made it a little bit brighter and crisp, so I finally was satisfied wih the result.

Hopefully this gave you an idea how I achieved this look.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks you!
